Indian Punjabi Wedding Outfit

Are you liking this series so far? I've never been so consistent with posts so it feels weird to be posting everyday. Must say it takes a good chunk of my day so your comments keep me going! Leave some na!

After the Prayer ceremony, Henna Ceremony & the Sangeet night comes THE most important day of all -the actual wedding day! It's the day everyone has been warming up to for a week. In my religion, the day starts super early as the Gurudwara/ Sikh Temple ceremony has to be completed before noon. So getting up super early is a norm. There are some ceremonies in the morning for both bride & groom at their respective places, after which the bride heads to the salon to get all glammed up and the family prepares with gifts and proceedings of the day.
The wedding party has to reach the venue at like 9 am (ish!) to welcome the guests. It's also the perfect time for the photographers to get some shots of freshly made up Indian bride and her family.
The bride family is the host for the day so its just them at the venue at that time. This is when we snapped up these beautiful shots of us twirling around, before all the madness ensued. I absolutely love these pictures. I still have to pinch myself when I look at them. The day almost feels like a dream.

Best photographer in India

My sister's wedding was pretty low key according to Indian standards, about 700 guests. We could have easily gone way higher but had to restraint ourselves on the invitations.

Our color theme of the day was Yellow. Yours truly & my dear brother were responsible for all the props, decorations & the venue seating. I think we did a rad job. Here's some of the shots of the venue before the guests started arriving. Marigold is my favorite when it comes to budget decorations or any tbh. You might have spotted it in Prayer, Henna & Sangeet ceremony pictures as well. Yellow screams Indian wedding to me!

The day was such a dream (Why do I keep saying that!). It truly was though! My sister was decked up in a custom made hand embroided traditional Red outfit. Here's a sneak peak of the gorgeous couple, snapped up by the talented Mehar Photography. These guys did such a fine job. I'm so going to hire them again for our next family wedding.

Props for wedding ideas

A huge thanks to my sister for bringing my imagination to life with this one! Its not easy conversing your vision some 14000 kms away. Pictures help!
I had a vision of exactly what I wanted. I sketched it on paper and the guys at Banarsee Sarees Patiala brought it into life.

A fully hand made outfit on raw silk fabric! It came out exactly like I wanted. I imagined it to be peppy, fun, bright & light and it was exactly that. Small round mirrors were painstakingly put all over the blouse and hem of Lehenga. The dupatta/veil was hand embroided with embroidery and mirrors. I admire our artisans for such hard work. You could see my happiness when I wore this outfit. From the depth of my mind to adorning it in real...its a feeling hard to describe! It's something born out of you. I'm a lil proud of this one :)

Makeup featured a classic gold eye makeup, contour, highlight and deep pink lipstick. I mixed up MAC All fired Up and Flat Out Fabulous for an intense fuchsia on lips. Ray Bans brought in some much needed summer vibes to a winter wedding. A royal blue hand embroidered clutch from Ru.Saru gave a nice contrast to lime crime and also matched Sunshine's outfit. Can we please welcome him to the blog? He designed his own outfit too!
My sisters wedding Lehenga and my Lehenga were both created by the talented guys at Barnala Saree Emporio in Patiala (Punjab). Send an email or Facebook message me if you need their details. They are ace!

I do not have any solo pictures from the day so I just had to include some shots of friends & family. Don't kill me guys. Sorry :( You have to let me have some solo shots next time. I blame you! haha

Dear reader, I hope you enjoyed a lil glimpse into my life. It's not always this rosy but I choose to spread positivism & focus on moments that bring a lil bit of magic with them. I also hope you come back to the blog to read the final post from this series tomorrow- The reception night!
