May/June/July 2015 Empties

11 August 2015

I bet you didn't notice there hasn't been an empties post on the blog for the last few months. a.)  I didn't have many products to show b.) I was crazy busy..which is probably gonna stay the same till March next year :) Busy is good right?
Anyways, here's products that I finished off in last few months. Surprisngly something from makeup this time!

Life Flo Rosehip Oil review

Here we go-

EOS lip balm review

1. Life Flo Pure Rosehip Seed Oil ($5.52 from iHerb.com)
I've probably mentioned this Rosehip Oil a million times already. Its my favorite facial oil and I'm slathered in it day and night! Its only $5.52 for 30ml and I buy it in bulk. So much cheaper than Trilogy's Rosehip Oil for the same quality product- Organic & Cold Pressed. Highly recommended for all skin types!
(Use my code PGF661 on iHerb.com for $5- $10 off your first order)

2. Hurraw! Lip Balms ($3.37 - $3.82 from iHerb.com)
I finished two variants of these.
- Hurraw! Vata Lip Balm (Almond Cardamom Rose)
- Hurraw! Moon Balm (Blue Chamomile Vanilla)

Big props to this brand for being Natural, Vegan, Organic, Coldpressed &Wildcrafted. They come in 22 exotic variants so you'd always be confused which one to buy.
The Vata Lip Balm smells absolutely delicious. Its like an Indian Mithai (Sweets). Sunshine is absolutely addicted to this one!
The Moon Balm is a heavy duty night balm and my favorite among the lot. I used it during the day and this didn't need re-application for 6 hours! The normal day balms didn't last this long.
I highly recommend both though. I'm now moving on to the coconut one :)

3. EOS Lip Balm in Strawberry Sorbet (About $13 NZD from Big Bucket sales and Various online sites)
I know many people feel these are all hype but nothing has worked better than Evolution of Smooth (EOS) on my dry lips.
They are way more heavy duty and waxier than Hurraw! and come in tons of variants as well. I recommend them and will buy some new flavors soon.

I have already done a comparison post on EOS and Hurraw! lip balms. Click to read.

Disclaimer- While the packaging is cute and attractive, it isn't very practical when you've flattened the dome shape with regular use. The sphere you see is hollow and only filled with product in the upper half. They have a plastic divider with slots in it to separate two compartments inside. Anddd when you are about to finish the balm, the remaining product falls into the hollow. No you can't get your fingers in there! This bugs me to no end! Product wastage!!!! EOS get your packaging sorted!

Best natural lip balm

4. Lavender Essential Oil by The Aromatherapy Company New Zealand ($15 for 10 ml)
This isn't really a beauty product but definitely needs a mention. I loooove Essential Oils and hoard them like anything. Lavender has to be one of favorite scents. It's just so calming. This Lavender Essential Oil by Aromatherapy company is the bees knees.

Various ways I've used this-
Rubbing a drop or two on palms and sniffing as I doze off at night (helps to relax muscles and sleep better)
Putting it on pillows
Adding some to my hair oil concoction
Adding some in bath
Adding some in Massage Oil

This is definitely going to be re-purchased!
Btw did you know The Aromatherapy Company has a outlet in Auckland- Think Cheap Candles, Bath Salts, Lotions and Essential Oils. Its in Onehunga- 339 Onehunga Mall Road. A must visit indeed!

5. Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation in 032 Golden (About $35 from supermarkets and beauty stores)
It does seem like I'm gushing over every product in this post but sorry can't help!

I'm very choosy about foundations (who isn't!) and this chance buy is one of my favorites. It has medium coverage and looks lovely on my dry skin. My face looks neither flat/matte nor dewy so this is like normal finish. The coverage is buildable and shade Golden matches my warm NC 32-ish complexion exactly. I'm fairly certain this will be re-purchased again!

best dry skin toner

6. Ecostore Shampoo & Conditioner in 'Normal' (About $8 from various supermarkets across NZ)
I have had so many people hooked on this shampoo. Even guys! and none have been disappointed. After Sorbet's Damage Control Solid Shampoo Bar, this is THE best shampoo. Props to it for being Gentle, Plant Based, NZ made and AFFORDABLE! $7 from Pak n Save when it's on special. If you are a fan of SLS free shmapoo, you need to give this a shot!

7. Kama Ayurveda Pure Rosewater ($38 from Amazon.com, Rs. 725 from Amazon.in)
I'm quite sad that this has finished. It's one of my favorite Rosewater. I say one as I own a million. Rosewater is the like the best natural skin toner for all skin types and CTM routine with floral toners has definitely improved my skin heaps! I hardly get acne anymore (**Knocks wood**). This steam distilled Rosewater is 100% Pure and smells beautiful (subtle, not fake).
I loved its dark bottle and pump so I'm saving it! Isn't is gorgeous?

By nature lotion nz

8. By Nature Body Lotion in 'Pomegranate & Argan Oil' (About $5.99 for 500 ml from The Warehouse stores in NZ)
I stumped across this brand while killing time in The Warehouse. I needed a new lotion and this was on special for like $5 for a huge 500 ml bottle. Who can get past that? And the lotion is free of Parabens and other nasties (Check the list on bottle)!
I found the fragrance of this weird but in a good way. I've never smelled anything like this before and I've sniffed both Pomegranate and Argan Oil. It's somewhat fruity but not our usual fruity.
The lotion is thin in texture and absorbs fine. It's more like a light summer lotion than something to be used in winters on my dry skin. No wonder I've been reaching out for Aveeno's Skin Relief lotion these days.
Also, if I apply this lotion and wash my hands a couple minutes later, it totally washes off. And I don't like that. It's like it sits on top of skin. May be I'm a Aveeno girl for life!
However, I did up buying another variant of it- Grapefruit! and that smells so much better. I feel like these would be ideal for summers as they are so light. I like them but not at the moment! It's winters here in NZ btw :)
