Eggplant!! That's what I was called by a stupid guy friend when I had this liquid lipstick on at an event. Though I'm not the one to be offended..the description has stuck with me. I'd say eggplants are darker though. It's more like those Indian/Fijian long eggplants (what are they called?). This beautiful dark purple lip color from MAC Cosmetics is surely a winner..when until you eat with it.
On my medium NC-35 ish skintone, the lipstick looks kickass (to hell with humbleness!). If you are any lighter than NC 33, this will look even prettier. If darker skintone, the shade will show more of dark hues than pink/purple. It all depends on your natural lip color.
One coat of liquid covers my lips opaquely. Layering the lipstick after some food is huge NO NO. It will start flaking and will look ugly. Putting a lip liner underneath will make your life easier.
If you have overly dry lips, this will worsen them. Lips really need to be well prepped a night before.
I love this shade so much, though I feel the limited wear-bility option kinda bugs me! I have to think of the kind of event I am going to before putting this lipstick on. Being a darker shade, my natural lip color doesn't take long to show up when I start hogging food like a pig. Its not a pretty sight. If MAC were to make this same lipstick shade in their matte lipstick range, count me in! I'm all for the color, not the formula. Any recommendations?
I feel that 'Feels so Grand', the red lip shade from same Retro Matte range is more forgiving and also wears & tears better.
'Oh Lady' is a permanent shade and retails for $50 NZD. I bought it duty free from Kuala Lumpur Airport for about $30 USD (Don't quote me on that. I lost the reciept!)
Did you like the look I've created with this lip color? Do you have any reccos on similar shade in a lipstick? Let me know in the comments below :)
