Clinique Take The Day off Cleansing Balm Review

There is no better marketing than word of mouth, so when a friend used this Clinique Take the Day off balm to remove her makeup during an overnight stay at my place, I was intrigued. She loved it. She gave me a blob to try out. I used it, loved it and a year or so later, bought my own. Why the long wait? I waited to pick it up duty-free during one of our travels.

Was it worth it? Heck yes!

Clinique Take the Day off balm is a gorgeous makeup removing balm that literally melts away all your makeup, even the stubborn Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation kind. I love it more when it emulsifies upon touching the water. It's magic!

 I apply a tiny blob on my face full of makeup, massage it all over (oh it's so balmy and silky!), it dissolves all the stubborn makeup and then I follow with splashes of warm water. It emulsifies and leaves no oily residue. It also does not dry out my already parched skin. The brand claims it is suitable for all skin types. I will agree with that.

Another reason I was sold is due to the cream being 100% fragrance-free. I've been off all artificial scents for the last few years and this makeup remover passes that test.

All good and nothing bad to say? Just one! Don't get it into your eye. This dissolves the most stubborn and long-wearing eye makeup but I'd suggest not overdoing it and cleaning eyes thoroughly thereafter. This stings albeit mildly but surely. I tend to put some eye drops to soothe my eyes if I go overboard with this cleanser. So to conclude, for face YES! for eyes BE WARY!

I'm already half-way through this jar and will be repurchasing it when it runs out. Anything that removes Double Wear foundation in one go, wouldn't dry out my skin and doesn't smell obnoxious is a winner in my books. Recommended!
