I straightened my hair after almost 5 years so I can't be called a pro but I have still clocked a fair bit of hours straightening my mane in the mid 2000's when it was all the rage. My GHD's from those days are still going strong so I guess that was money well spent!

I'm sure a lot has changed in the hair tools department since those days, the latest being the Straightening brushes. I was recently sent this Remington Keratin & Argan Oil infused Straightening Brush to try out. Having had such a great experience with Remington's Hair Curling set (Its a must have!), I was beyond excited.
Part of the excitement must be the nostalgia of days gone by when I wouldn't survive without my trusty GHD's even on a holiday. I tried this nifty gadget the same day it arrived and even did a few Instagram Stories for some good before/after shots and my first impressions.
These days, I'm quite fuss-free when it comes to my hair. I like 'em long & wild. I wash them, air dry them, apply some smoothening serum and rock 'em waves in full glory. And I don't comb/brush them. Never done that! It takes away my beloved waves and gives me a frizzy mess instead. I find I look & feel most like myself when my hair are au natural and all over the place.
Natural hair...waves n all! |
Frizzy hair post combing |
Did it make my hair frizz-free? A little. Not completely. I'm never sold on claims like Keratin & Argan Hair Oil infused ceramic plates!! I mean seriously? So I'm not even gonna judge the device on this advertising ploy.
Left- Natural, Right- Straightened with Remington brush |
The brush heats upto 230° C in 30 seconds, has 3 settings (I use the max), can shut off automatically and comes with a 3 year warranty. The swivel cord & worldwide voltage makes it a perfect travel companion too.
The era of straightening brushes is just beginning so I'm hoping Remington's next in line would be tad less chunky/heavy and also comes with a heat protectant pad or something as the brush handle gets quite hot. I luckily have a silicone pad where I put mine while I made Instagram stories & recorded my first impressions. The handle never gets hot so that's a plus.
Do I like Remington's Straightening brush? Yes.
Would I recommend it? Yes, If you're in the market for a straightener, this Remington one is a good pick. Pricewise, it's mid-range at $199 NZD but I'm sure you can score it for cheaper when Harvey Norman or Briscoes have their sales going on.
If you currently have a trusty straightener, I wouldn't rush to buy it as you'd still be practically buying a straightener, albeit the one that is quicker and easier to use.
I hope you find this review helpful.
Do you straighten your hair? Are you a regular or more like once in a blue moon kinda person? What's your favorite hot tool?
