My favorite time of the year is here. Its Diwali time. Time to gorge on Gulab Jamuns, Samosas and lots of Paneer! Its practically the fattening season :p We'll be visiting friends and family on Diwali day (This Wednesday, Nov 11th). Lamps, candles and diyas will be lighted. I've already burned my share of crackers this past weekend for Guy Fawkes so that's been taken care of. So much fun.
If I was in India, we'd be having Diwali Holidays too but alas its NZ and we've gotta work. Like seriously can you imagine working all day on Christmas and then having the feast with family in the evening? So cruel.
You know I love trying new makeup looks, what better chance to go all out than a festival. This year I'm wearing a coral and blue Anarkali Dress. It has fitted gold sequined corset and flowy flared coral fabric as body. The pants are super snug fit straight tights (Its called Pyjami. You know like a female version of Pyjama!!). The veil/dupatta has round silver sequined motifs all over it and a pearly lace at the borders. Quite a co-incidence as my last Diwali look on blog (2014) was around blue as well. Love the blues! I feel like they suit my skintone really well.
Oh! this whole outfit is conceptualized and designed by my sister. She chose the fabric, got it dyed coral, blue whatever and brought it all together. So much talent! The outfit is hers and I stole/borrowed it from her late last year. It's clearly my favorite outfit at present. I've shamelessly worn it way too many times now (and plan to again!).
MAC Cosmetics NZ recently sent me some new products to try out. I was already confused about my Diwali look so it couldn't have come at a better time. Their Holiday Collections are in store now and let me tell you, they are divine- sooooo many products to choose from. The Magic of the Night Collection and the Enchanted Eve Collection are so dreamy. They have come out with many multi-purpose sets too. You know MAC hardly ever releases pre-made makeup palettes, so if you've been lusting after one, now's the time. Gotta rush to beat the crowds though. I'm really really keen on this Face palette that Lena from Lena Talks Beauty received. This is such a perfect gift for girlfriends. A perfect wedding present too. Someone gift it to me please :p
I received the Viva Glamorous Miley Cyrus Lip set SRP $78 which has a Miley Cyrus Lipstick* & Lipglass* housed in a pretty black clutch. That's Miley Cyrus Lipstick on my lips, a bright hot pink, creamy, amplified cream finish lipstick that stays on for good 5 hours and leaves a heavy pink stain behind.
Part of the Magic of the Night Collection are 5 Colourdrenched pigments (SRP $52 NZD each) which are the new Limited Edition powder to cream Eyeshadow formula in beautiful azure packaging. I received shade 'Ascent of Glamour'*, a super pigmented cobalt violet blue (frost) eyeshadow, which takes the center-stage in today's look. I love the formula and hope MAC makes it permanent. Its very silky and doesn't crease even when layered massively. I do have an eye primer on my lids though.
From the Magic of the Night Collection, I also received the amplified finish lipstick 'Dark Side'* (SRP $44) in Limited Edition purple packaging. Super gorgeous! The color is a creamy, medium coverage, deep burgundy shade. Look at that swatch! I'll do a look and review of it sometime next week. This lipstick is in the permanent line as well btw.

If you're wondering how I apply Eyeshadows, here's my lil trick, Post-it notes- so handy & convenient and literally fool-proof. Also check out how vibrant that purple is. I layered black eye pencil under it to intensify it even more. I'm quite keen to try a white pencil underneath next time (NYX's jumbo pencil in Milk?). My dress has a different shade of blue in it and I was quite skeptical if Ascent of Glamour would work but the end result had me satisfied. Do you think this purple goes with the blue well? Also check out the coverage when Waterweight Foundation is mixed with a medium to full cover foundation. Its quite good actually! What do you think of it?
Can you imagine I changed straight after clicking these pictures into pants and a floral tee to head to a dinner party? With a full face of makeup, I was clearly over makeupped! I'm still surprised why no one asked me about it!
Did you like this look? Could I've done something different? Any tips for me to improve? Eagerly waiting to talk to you in the comments below :)
Have an ahmazing and safe Diwali. Those of you with family, give them a hug you lucky buggers!
Love
Nishu xx
P.S. A chocolate fish for anyone who can guess why I decided to put my nose pin on the non-camera facing side? I didn't even realize until I checked the pictures next morning! Such a shame you can't even see it. My bff sent them to me all the way from India. You don't even need to get your nose pierced for them. Love.
