Hands up if you're a Pink/coral fan! Anyone who isn't? Rejoice because MAC's next collection celebrates pink, its hues, its dreaminess and its versatility. Its the Flamingo Park Collection! They pretty much slayed this one and its in stores today (March 7th, 2016). Though this is Spring 2016 Collection (US), the colors are still so apt for the balmy autumn we've been having in NZ lately (fingers crossed it stays this way). I have a feeling these will sell out fast, you know like every other Limited Edition Collection from MAC so make your pick and head to the store first thing.
I received Flocking Fabulous Lipstick, Such Sweeties Cremesheen Glass and Sunny Surprise Beauty Powder from Flamingo Park Collection and here's the look I've created with it. A dreamy collection demands a dreamy look. So here's me in a perfect bunny headband (courtesy Kmart), glowy skin, coral lips and gorging on cupcakes because what more does a girl want right?
Pink Eyeshadow always has me cringing but I'm actually surprised at how natural yet edgy this looks. I used the shimmery Purplish pink shade 'Past Romance' from Zoeva 'Love is a Story' eyeshadow palette on my lids and NYX's Pearl Eyeshadow in 'Copper Pearl' in the crease. TheBalm's Mary-Lou Manizer graces the inner corner on the eyes and also as a highlighter. I've also used NYX's Wonder pencil in my lower lashline for a brightening effect. I'm rocking Flocking Fabulous lipstick on my lips and Sunny Surprise Beauty Powder on cheeks. What are your thoughts on this look?
Flocking Fabulous lipstick is beautiful Coral shade lipstick that is a gorgeous everyday wear shade. As its Cremesheen + Pearl, it's superrrrr moisturizing and has a hint of glossiness to it. I'm more of a matte person but found this lipstick great for slathering on for the weekend errands, like I do with Revlon just bitten balm stains. So easy and fuss free!
The lipstick is medium coverage and pretty much stays that way even after you layer it. It stays for a good 3 hours before making an exit with your food. I found it comfortable, flattering and forgiving on my lips.
Such Sweeties Cremesheen Glass is a pastel baby pink lip gloss that is super moisturizing & glossy yet non sticky. It has tiny blue based shimmer in it that is hardly detectable but gives lips a hint of purple/blue. I'm not a fan of this shade personally as it kinda washes me out (Pastel pink is a bit of no no on ethnic skin! Remember MAC Vamplify in Speed Up?) but there are other stunning pinks in this collection that I'm totally in for. I could still make good use of it by using it as a moisturizing gloss over matte lipsticks. It has hardly any color to it.
Beauty Powder is a new concept for me. These have a subtle whiff of color for the whole face and can be used as eye color, highlighter or blush. I've used it as blush in this look. Shade 'Sunny Surprise' is muted coral and I actually had to do a couple of swipes for the color to show up on my cheeks. I assume it's more for the super fair skintone. For dusky and ethnic skins, you need a good few coats of it, but that also makes it fool-proof and hard to over-do. Overdone blush is a killer!
The other Beauty Powder in this collection- Pearl Blossom is a pink with beautiful fine silver shimmer in it, which would be great as a highlighter and for dusting some glow on the face. However, Sunny Paradise is a great natural no-makeup look coral blush if you were ever searching for one. It is beautiful indeed if it shows up on your skin. I MADE it show up on my NC 32 skin. You feel me?
The Flamingo Park Collection boasts 8 Lipsticks ($40 NZD each), 3 Lip pencils ($36), 5 Cremesheen Glass ($48), 6 Powder blushes in beautiful pink hues ($48), 2 Beauty powders ($48) and a couple of eyeshadows ($38) and pigments ($48). Oh! 3 pretty pink nail paints too ($26). I have my eyes on 'Be Silly' lipstick (fuchsia pink; matte), 'Have Your Cake' lipstick (Bright Magenta; Matte) lipstick and 'Life's a Picnic' blush (Hot reddish pink; Satin). Some of the shades in this collection are re-promoted (Silly Lipstick, Playful Petal Cremesheen Glass, etc) and some like Saint Germain & Please Me lipsticks are a part of MAC's permanent collection already.
Wrapping up, The Flamingo Park Collection is pretty badass with shades of pink, coral and lots of fun in between. If you have a MAC store nearby, you need to head down there asap and you know why!
