Jane Iredale Beyond Matte Liquid Foundation Review

11 November 2019

There’s a new foundation in town. This one is a bit special because it’s actually good for your skin. It’s your answer to anyone who tries to kill your goddess vibe by telling you off makeup and how it’s bad for your skin. Well, there’s a brand that makes skincare makeup. It’s Jane Iredale. A 100% mineral-based makeup line. It’s a salon exclusive brand available at various stockists NZ wide. The list of stockists is on their website www.psb.net.nz . It’s not hard to find one near you. There’s 3 near me right now.
The new Beyond Matte foundation is available in 18 shades. I’m shade M9 which is best suited for medium golden skin tone. It’s an exact match for my MAC NC 33-ish skin tone (3W1 Tawny in Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation). This foundation claims to be buildable, long-wearing and semi-matte natural finish.
I have already posted an IGTV video using this foundation and other Jane Iredale bestsellers. If you'd like to hear me talk about them, click here.

On my dry skin, the foundation goes on beautiful. It’s hydrating, glowy, natural-finish and somewhat buildable. I’ve been wearing it to work every day for over 3 weeks now. It’s the most natural-looking foundation I’ve ever tried. It feels like I’ve got nothing on. My face looks naturally even and flawless. My freckles show through so it looks like I’ve got naturally good skin. The finish is best described as natural. It’s better than sheer but tad less than medium. I apply it with a brush and it absorbs in fast. As it’s semi-matte finish, it doesn’t really need a setting powder. I do however use a compact.
By the end of the day, the foundation still holds up on my face. Skin looks well hydrated and healthy. I’d recommend this foundation for normal to dry skin. I’ve been really enjoying it.
The frosted glass bottle with pump is user-friendly and functional.
As I previously mentioned, Jane Iredale products are known as skincare makeup. Makeup that is good for the skin. So this foundation was bound to have good skin-nourishing stuff in it. Here's it-
- PORETECT, an eco-friendly ingredient made from Linseed and Celery Seed Extracts. It brings firmness, tone and density to the skin.
- PEPTIDES that minimize the appearance of shine and promote a smooth, semi-matte, photo-ready finish
- XILOGEL, a blend of Tamarind Seed and plant-based Hyaluronic Acid. It enhances the ability to improve skin elasticity, smooth and moisturize the skin and reduce micro-roughness.

I can't say if it's making my skin any better but it's surely doing no harm at all. My skin is visibly hydrated (must be the Hyaluronic Acid) and is more photo-ready & smooth too (must be the peptides then).

To conclude, it's been a long time since I was impressed by a foundation. I actually look forward to using Beyond Matte foundation every morning. It gives my tired mom skin a visible lift and glow. If you have dry skin or you like dewy/hydrating foundations in general, consider this one for daily wear. It won't disappoint. It is not your full coverage cake-y base, but more of a natural skin finish. It's got my seal of approval.
