NYX Xtreme Lip Creams - Bonfire, Strawberry Cream & Spicy - Review + FOTD!

16 September 2014

After my love affair with matte’s since last few months, I had this urge to go glossy over the weekend & was pleasantly surprised. Now you can’t beat the longevity of a matte lipstick but pumped & juicy lips are hard to ignore as well. I bought these NYX  Lip Creams sometime late last year & was surprised they were still sealed. I really need to sort out my makeup!!

Instead of doing three separate posts & annoy you, here’s 3-in-1 post.

NYX Xtreme Lip Creams were introduced by NYX after the astronomical success of their Soft Matte lip Creams which happens to be my fav formula (minus the smell). Antwerp is the best shade ever created.

Xtreme lip creams are high on gloss, pigmentation & longevity. They are pretty much a cross between lipstick & lip gloss with a bit of lip stain thrown into the mix. Sounds Exotic?

My experience with the formula is mixed!

THE GOOD:
- The pigmentation is the bomb. Opaque in one coat!
- These babies are pretty glossy. The look like gloss on top of a lipstick
- The stay is pretty good. It definitely stays on for 5+ hours & fades evenly
- Stains lips heavily so you are bound to have some color left
- The packaging is standard NYX tube, color same as the product inside, so it’s easier to locate them in your stash
- The doe foot applicator creates the perfect cupids bow
- Castor oil in the formula makes them moisturizing
-The price is reasonable- $6 USD, though I always tend to buy when on sale (40% OFF)

Shade 1: Bonfire

NYX Bonfire in person!

THE NOT-SO-GOOD:
- The formula is thick. So a bit tricky to play with!
- The darker shades need a steady hand to create perfect lip line.
- Less is more! I tried to get that perfectly glossy magazine look. Achieved it but they transferred to everything like crazy. Whatever my lips would touch! I don’t see myself putting my hair down with these.
- The smell is borderline ewww..! Different from Soft Matte Lip Cream but still not pleasant. NYX really needs to address this.
- Maybe I used a tad-more than required... they feathered on me. Just a bit. I’ll be sure to use a lip liner next time.

Shade 2: NYX Strawberry Jam

Strawberry Jam on me!

About the Shades:

BONFIRE is a nice berry pink -with a touch of brown
STRAWBERRY JAM is bright baby Pink
SPICY is a warm orange-y red.

Swatch party!

All of them are gorgeous in their own right. Universal too. For reference, I'm an Indian with NC 30-35  warm skintone.

Shade 3: NYX Spicy

NYX Spicy on my face. Look at that cupids bow! Its a rare perfection

Price: $6 USD. Can be found at 40% off during promotions.

Buy From: Cherryculture.com , Beautyjoint.com .Both ship worldwide.

Verdict: For the price, these are a good buy. The glossy look is to die for. However, the formula needs a bit of practice. They are long wearing but transferable. The stain stays for a good many hours. If you're heading out & don’t plan on downing a double patty burger.. Put it on!
